Wegen is a cross-border tuition payment app operated by The Hinds' Feet Technologies PLC. It helps members of the Ethiopian diaspora and local participants pay tuition and education-related fees across borders.
To use Wegen you create an account, so we collect your name, email address, and authentication data (managed through Google Firebase, including email verification). We also collect payment and payout details you provide (such as recipient/beneficiary information, bank or institution details, mobile-money numbers, and the currency and amount of a request), transaction and in-app wallet records, push-notification tokens, basic device information, and diagnostic/usage logs.
We use this information to create and manage your account, operate the marketplace (posting requests, matching participants, and processing offers), process payments, payouts, refunds, and wallet balances, send service notifications, prevent fraud and abuse, comply with legal obligations, and provide support.
We do not sell, rent, or trade user information. We share information only as needed to operate the service: with Google Firebase (authentication, database, hosting); with payment providers Wise, PawaPay, and, where applicable, Stripe to process payments and payouts; with other participants only the limited details needed to complete a transaction you take part in; and where required by law or to protect users.
We retain personal and transaction information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, and thereafter as required to meet legal, accounting, tax, anti-fraud, and regulatory obligations. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it. Data is protected using encryption in transit and access controls, though no method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
Wegen uses third-party services including Google Firebase, Wise, PawaPay, Stripe, and Google Play services. These providers process data under their own privacy policies.
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and you can disable push notifications in your device settings. To request deletion of your account and data, see our Account & Data Deletion page or contact us below.
Wegen is intended for users aged 18 and over and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this policy from time to time and will revise the effective date above. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
